NTUA’s Senate Committee for Energy Management & Sustainability has undertaken a vital role in meeting specific needs for energy management and sustainable design for both the built and the natural environment of the campuses of the National Technical University of Athens (Patission Complex, Zografou Campus, Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park, Metsovion Interdisciplinary Research Center). In addition, the Senate Committee for Energy Management & Sustainability actively promotes communication and awareness-raising on aspects of sustainable development, enhances the commitment to sustainable practices, manages emerging system challenges and empowers novel approaches to a sustainable future through education, research, social engagement and operations.

Projects, actions and initiatives undertaken by NTUA’s Senate Committee for Energy Management & Sustainability include:

  • promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals as defined in NTUA’s Roadmap to Sustainability (ΕΝ ΒΙΩ ΕΜΠ),
  • energy management of NTUA campuses,
  • energy surveys and measurements,
  • coordinated interventions to ensure energy savings and efficient resource allocation,
  • new funding resources for committee actions,
  • communication with and training of NTUA communities on energy management and sustainability,
  • support to innovation and research initiatives on sustainable development.
